A common misconception of hearing loss is that you experience a quiet world. Not true. Good hearing is not about volume of sound but the clarity of what we are listening to.
Possible reasons for poor hearing vary from excessive ear wax blocking our ear canals, excessive loud noise exposure (what is commonly referred to as ‘boiler makers ear’), and age degeneration of the nerve ends of hearing in the cochlear.
Our first priority is to clarify the reason for the hearing difficulties
This will require an audiometric hearing test and a visual inspection of the ear canal and ear drum. This is not a time consuming complicated procedure and one that can be completed in about 30 minutes.
There are no charges for this service which can be conducted at a clinic or in the convenience and confidentiality of your own home.
Once the tests have been carried out and the results explained an action plan can be discussed. There is no pressure to follow the advice given.
